National Police General Commissioner Addresses False Claims Regarding Power Bank Usage

Phnom Penh, July 8, 2024: The General Commission of the National Police has taken a stand against the dissemination of misinformation regarding the use of Power Banks to compromise bank account security. In a recent statement, the General Commissioner refuted a fake voice message circulating online, allegedly created by an anonymous woman, claiming that Power Banks could be used to steal data or money from phone accounts.

The National Police General Commission has urged the public, particularly social media users, to refrain from sharing unsubstantiated information propagated by anonymous sources. Emphasizing the technical expertise of law enforcement officers, the Commissioner clarified that it is not feasible to exploit a power bank for data theft.

Furthermore, the General Commission of the National Police has initiated a comprehensive investigation to identify and take legal action against individuals responsible for fabricating and disseminating false information that poses a threat to national security.
